The CIC energiGUNE is a new energy research centre based in the Basque Country. It aspires to achieve and maintain levels of excellence in its operations and to build itself into an international benchmark in its field. The centre has been set up with backing from public institutions and other authorities and from areas of the business world directly related to the energy industry.

The CIC energiGUNE's main areas of action are:

• Basic excellence research
• Transfer of knowledge and results
• Coordination of research, developmente and innovation in the area of renewable energy by the different agents (Universities, Technology Centres, etc) in the Basque Country
