PHASE CHANGE MATERIALS

The group is focused on the development of new phase change materials at medium-to-high temperature range with high latent heat storage capacity and proper thermo-physical properties. The research is carried out taking into account different complementary points of view. On one side strong attention is given to the materials development by identification of new systems, their synthesis and characterization. On the other side the experiments carried out in lab scale reactors are firstly theoretically simulated by using computational methods (CFD) in order to study and optimize the heat transfer processes and materials’ performances in a preliminary step before to be validated in a demonstration plant.
