CIC energigune - energy coperative research centre

CIC Energigune is the new energy research centre with headquarters in the Basque Country which aims to become an international benchmark in its field. The centre has the backing of public institutions and administrations, and of companies directly related to the energy sector.

CIC Energigune offers Master students the possibility to develop their Doctoral Thesis within one of the following topics:

 

I.- Title: Development of ceramic lithium ion electrolytes for high performance batteries (ref. CerElec)

Supervisors: Prof. John A. Kilner, Dr.Ainara Aguadero

 

II.- Title: Overcome kinetic limitations of Na-ion insertion cathodes (ref. KinNa)

Supervisor: Dr. Damien Saurel

 

III.- Title: Investigations of New Electrode Materials for Sodium Ion Batteries (ref. ElecNa)

Supervisors: Dr. Elizabeth Castillo Martinez, Prof.Teofilo Rojo

 

IV.- Title: Na or Li salt-polymer hybrid nanoparticles as electrolytes for solid-state batteries. (ref. Polym)

Supervisors: Dr. Michel Armand, Dr. Irune Villaluenga

 

V.- Title: Positive electrode materials for aqueous Na-ion batteries (ref. AquoNa)

Supervisors: Dr. Montse Casas Cabanas and Dr. Miguel Angel Muñoz

 

VI.- Title: Advanced phosphate materials as positive electrode for Na-ion batteries(ref. PhosNa)

Supervisors: Dr. Pierre Kubiak

 

VII.- Title: Insight into ionic transport in nanoporous carbon electrodes of electrochemical double-layer capacitors (ref. DoubCap)

Supervisors: Dr. Roman Mysyk

 

VIII.- .- Title of the research project: "Regime-selected morphological patterns during the electrodeposition of catalytic nanoparticles" (ref. CatNano)

Supervisors: Dr. Sofía Pérez-Villar and Dr. Carmen M. López

 

IX.- Title of the research project: High temperature energy storage: materials and systems.

Supervisor: Dr. Abdessamad Faik

 

Eligible candidates must be registered master students at the UPV/EHU or at other European Universities and being eligible for pre-doctoral fellowship programs.

The contract will commence between September and November 2012. By then, the student should hold the Master degree to have access to the PhD program of a University.

   - A cover letter
   - Your CV including the BA/BSc qualification on a scale of 1-4
   - Names (including e-mail address) of at least two referees

(*) for non-european candidates, the position will be available only once researchers obtain all the immigration permits.

 

 

ANNEX

1.- Conditions

Eligible students: candidates must hold a Master degree before the PhD fellowship begins

National and international candidates are elegible.

English and skill communications would be particularly valuable.

Candidates should be highly motivated to pursue a scientific career

Length: 3 years

Economical offer: 18.500 € gross per year (aprox. 15.000 net)

Funding:

    - 5 best researchers evaluated: CIC Energigune will assume the investment based on its internal funds. Nevertheless those candidates will be encouraged to apply for grants.
    - Other candidates: CIC Energigune will evaluate the possibility of offering a position based on obtaining a grant.
