Degree in Mechanical Engineering (specialising in energy technology) from the Escuela Superior de Ingenieros Industriales, Bilbao, M.Sc. in "Nuclear Engineering" and in "Health Physics" from the University of Michigan, has spent his entire career related to the field of energy.
Prior to joining the CIC Energigune in 2008 as General Manager, Jesus Goiri was General Manager of the Basque Energy Board (EVE). It is in this organization where he spent most of his career. Starting in 1985 in the Strategy Offices, in 1991 he became International Director, and finally in 1999 was apointed General Manager of EVE. Previously, he was Director of Energy and Thermoelectric Power in the Basque Government: from that position he participated in the creation of EVE, and the defintion of the first strategic policy on energy for the Basque Country that defined long term policies for energy effciency and the implementation of a gas network in the Basque Country.
In 1979, he was one of the four representatives that the Basque General Council appointed to assess the consequences of the accident at the Three Mile Island nuclear power plant in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania (US) The purpose of the misión was to adapt the lessons learned at the design of the Lemoniz nuclear plan, then under construction.
Jesus Goiri began his career (1977) combining being a Professor of Nuclear Technology in the Escuela Superior de Ingenieros de Bilbao, with the creation, with some colleagues of a business venture related to developing low temperature solar thermal panels.
