CIC energiGUNE has been awarded by the European Commission with the ´HR Excellence in Research´which reflects our commitment to achieve fair and transparent recruitment and appraisal procedures, and certifies the existence of a stimulating and favorable work environment for researchers in our institution

CIC energiGUNE is an energy storage research centre with headquarters in the Basque Country, which aims to achieve and maintain levels of excellence in all of its research areas of focus and become an international benchmark in its field. The centre has the backing of public institutions and administrations, and of companies directly related to the energy sector.

Qué ofrecemos

The "Electrochemical Energy Storage" area, at CIC energiGUNE, is seeking for a Postdoctoral researcher to apply for an Individual Fellowship (IF) within Marie Sklodowska-Curie actions (MSCA) of the European Union in electrolytes for electrochemical energy storage. The candidate will join a multidisciplinary and collaborative team of young researchers.

The position is expected to start during the first half of 2020 and will have a duration of 2 years. The candidate will be hired only if the MSCA Individual Fellowship is granted. Successful candidates will be hosted at CIC energiGUNE during the fellowship.

Brief description of the project

Energy storage is critical to meeting the needs of modern societies, and batteries represent a predominant technology. While Na-oxygen batteries offer much higher energy density than current Metal-ion systems, the selection of suitable electrolytes remains a major hurdle which has yet to be overcome. This project aims to meet this challenge by first using a combination of experimental and computational techniques to generate rational design principles, then from these (using careful selection of constituents; i.e. solvent(s), salt, and additive) develop a new generation of advanced electrolytes. The outcome of the project will not only lead to advances in system technologies, but also provide a framework for future progress in this field.
