CIC energiGUNE has a mission to play a leading role in the international scientific area, focusing on materials and systems related to energy, electrochemical, and thermal storage. The center aspires to be a reference in technology transfer, counting on the collaboration of other scientific-technological agents, and generating disruptive knowledge for the Basque industry. This is achieved with a suitable environment that has state-of-the-art infrastructures, laboratories, characterization and prototyping platforms and, above all, a team of high-level, interdisciplinary researchers team who work to achieve excellent, high-impact research.

In 2005, the European Commission adopted a European Charter for Researchers and a Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers. CIC energiGUNE has endorsed the 40 principles that make up this Charter and Code and is fully involved in the process of implementing a Human Resources Strategy for Researchers.
